Grief as Beloved South African DJ Shot Dead in Johannesburg.
A popular South African radio and club DJ has been fatally gunned down in the metropolis of Johannesburg, triggering widespread grief across a nation battling persistent crime.
Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, was attacked in the downtown area on Tuesday afternoon.
Officials stated the 40-year-old presenter was approached by three suspects, with one shot at him before fleeing on foot.
The reason behind the shooting has not been established and no one has been arrested have been made, as per the official statement.
The Fatal Incident
Authorities indicated that Stock was attacked as he was leaving a building near the Carlton Centre.
He had been present for hours at the building managing the installation of safety equipment, which had been controversially occupied by unidentified individuals, as per local media.
"It is alleged the man was confronted by three unknown suspects after he parked his car, and they began shooting at him before running from the location on foot," authorities stated.
Surveillance tape showed a man with dreadlocks and wearing what resembled a guard's attire opening fire on Stock before fleeing.
The DJ tried to run away after he was wounded but collapsed a short distance away.
It was further revealed that Stock had an weapon on his person and it was not a robbery during the incident.
Key evidence, like cartridges, were discovered at the scene.

Authorities have requested eyewitnesses who may have witnessed the attack to assist with the investigation.
"Our information indicates they walked a long distance after the shooting, and police have been following their trail to determine their whereabouts," stated a police chief.

His sister, a close relative, expressed the relatives are devastated to process his death.
"Words fail me. I am shattered," were her words.
"We know he was a champion for numerous individuals. He spoke out bravely about topics not many people were ready to discuss. This is a profound tragedy."
She appealed to the citizens to not sharing disturbing footage from the scene, explaining this was an incredibly difficult time, above all for Stock's children.
