A person who laced treats with sleeping medication and provided them to minors at a summer camp in Leicestershire has pleaded guilty to sexual offences against two boys both nine and ten years old.
The defendant was detained after eight minors and a grown-up experienced illness at the location in mid-summer.
The senior citizen, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, admitted guilt to a multiple criminal counts when he appeared at Leicester Crown Court on Friday.
Yet, he refused to admit one particular crime he was facing, which was involving a nine-year-old boy.
The defendant was held in detention before a subsequent court date on late November.
'Sweet game'
The legal representative, presenting evidence, detailed Ruben's offending to the judicial body.
She stated his those affected were under-privileged children who were staying at a youth camp which he operated.
The defendant played a "candy game" with the youngsters, Mrs Prior explained, in which he would go into the children's bedrooms when they were settling down and request they to eat sweets "rapidly".
She stated to the judge Ruben had conducted this practice with the boys "repeatedly", and youngsters had previously fallen ill the next day.
She explained the defendant had been successful in rationalizing this over a long period as the children being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his family member had suspicions in recently.
The prosecutor continued: "This year his stepson had suspicions about the situation, justifiably.
"They decided to investigate in the man's possessions."
The legal counsel explained materials including infant oil, Vaseline and syringes were found, and his stepchild notified the authorities about his suspicions.
She stated the defendant continued to engage in the "treat game" with six boys that time - Saturday 26 July - and they were all sick the subsequent day.
"The police had not gone out by that time," she continued.
The police watchdog, the police conduct office, previously told that it was investigating Leicestershire Police's handling of the events.
Mrs Prior said the children were struggling to walk due to their condition, so the stepson notified the police a second time.
She explained Ruben then conducted the "candy game" in a area of five minors.
