New Details Come to Light Regarding the Finding of the Reiner Couple's Remains
New information has come to light regarding the shocking passing of renowned film director Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were found at their residence home on Sunday.
A Initial Report
A source indicates quoting a family associate, a massage therapist arriving for an session first raised the alarm after failing to get inside the residence. The therapist then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides close by.
After gaining access to the home, Romy found her father's body. Reports state she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, not realizing at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. Her roommate who had accompanied her contacted 911. Afterward, emergency responders found Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Criminal Developments
Law enforcement have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of premeditated murder, including the alleged use of a deadly weapon, reportedly a knife. He is currently being held and denied bail.
Correcting the Record
The confidential informant questioned several initial details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner told first responders that her brother Nick resided in a separate structure on the estate, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that moment.
The source also disputed widely reported notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "apprehensive" about Nick's behavior in the preceding period. Instead the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."
This refutation includes accounts of reportedly "unpredictable" conduct by Nick at a event thrown by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the tragedy. Although the source noted they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "scolded" his son at the party, they maintained that reports of a "heated argument" between the two were not correct.
Ongoing Inquiry Details
As stated by law enforcement sources, the coroner had yet to determine as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Some accounts indicated the state of their bodies suggested they had been dead for a period of time.
Nick Reiner was arrested at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, some 15 miles from the residence. He was due to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, stated his client had a medical issue and would be unable to attend until no sooner than Wednesday.
