Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
Lando Norris has outscored his teammate at each of the past five race weekends.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat fellow driver and championship contender the Australian for the top spot in the final moments of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who grabbed the championship lead from his teammate by one point after winning in Mexico City a fortnight back, beat the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the leading McLaren throughout the hour before the sprint shootout scheduled for the evening session.
The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in realistic title contention, sitting 36 points behind Norris, ended up in P17 as his Red Bull team ran a different programme.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to have an incident, albeit lightly, when he rotated at the fourth corner during the early running.
The Japanese lost control over the curbs on exit before rotating through the escape zone, and was lucky to escape with just a light touch of the fence.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also spun, at the very end of the practice, rotating twice through the fast downhill Mergulho turn before the final corner on to the pit straight.
The veteran finished practice in 19th, trailing team-mate the Monegasque driver.
Norris and Piastri were far ahead of the rest of the field, with the German's Sauber P3, 0.619secs behind the Australian's time.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
